First Day: South Island Adventure!

Our South Island adventure began on Sunday.  Dorothy hit a little snafu trying to get out of the country on her passport so she was one day late.  We picked her and our rent car up from the airport.  She got showered and had some coffee and we were off on our adventure.  It was so much fun showing her around New Zealand.  We fit A LOT into our two weeks!  Our first day we drove up to Kaiteriteri, a beach town on the north coast of the south island.  We stayed in a B&B very close to the Little Kaiteriteri beach.  Kaiteriteri is one of the access points to the Abel Tasman National Park which can only be reached by boat or by hiking in.  We did not make it very far in our drive before stopping for lunch at a winery.  It was a perfect start to our trip!

Wine selection.

Enjoying the NZ sunshine and beautiful scenery.

Our friend Tracy (aunt Sandra's sister in law) was also staying in Kaiteri about two blocks from us!  We stopped in on our first night for happy hour before heading into the very small town of Kaiteriteri for dinner.  View from Tracy's deck.
