Abel Tasman

We spent Monday on a kayaking trip to the Abel Tasman, beach time at Split Apple beach, walking on the beach in Kaiteriteri and dinner with Tracy in Motueka.  We were actually thankful that it was a little cloudy for our trip and the skies parted right when we finished up.  It was a fantastic day out on the water.  The Abel Tasman is one of the most beautiful places in the world!  Bush and I took a trip there when we were dating and I have always wanted to go back.  It did not disappoint!

Pre-kayaking.  Circle R (where we got married) represented!

Suited up and ready to go!

Dorothy and me paddling along.  I can't get over how emerald green the water was.

View from our stop.

Enjoying hot drinks with our guide and Bush's kayaking buddy Louise traveling from the Netherlands.

Beach hot chocolate!

View from a quick walk up

Seals that make a small island their home.  The island is also a bird sanctuary.  The bird song was unbelievable!

Kayak drop off waiting for our boat ride back.

Boating in the sun!

Split Apple rock from the water.

Tractor pull ride!  This would never happen in the US to uptight!  The boat pulled right up to a trailer being pulled by a tractor.  We all just stayed in the boat and the tractor pulled us down the road!

Post kayak burgers from the Fat Tui.

Yum!  One of the best loaded burgers I have had.

View of Split Apple Rock from the beach.  After kayaking and burgers we headed for the walk down to the beach for a little beach time.

Bush swam out to the rock.  Looks like he is holding it open!

While we sunned and spent time reading Bush was  engineering a water way system on the beach.

Kaiteriteri beach with Little Kaiteriteri in the background.
