We spent our first full day on the North Island in Taupo right on Lake Taupo. The lake is thermally heated and in spots it is very hot! We hiked the Huka Falls trail to the Huka Falls and enjoyed the sites of Orakei Korako thermal area. We finished up our day with a few other stops, lounging by the pool and finished up the night with pizza and beer.

Steam coming of the lake.
Huka River
Hiking the Huka Falls trail.
Huka Lodge. A very high end resort. One day Bush and I will celebrate an anniversary there. At least that is my dream!

Rare pic of the three of us!
Self pic and promptly after Bush lost his sunglasses to the falls!
Enjoying one of the hot pools along the trail on our way out.

The Honey Hive! New Zealand is known for its Manuka Honey. We stopped in for ice cream.
